Research topics
The group IICiMed has an expertise on host-fungi interaction and antifungal drug resistance in order to identify potential targets and synthetize drug candidates in fungal diseases. Numerous fungal mechanisms of resistance have been characterized as overexpression of efflux pumps mRNA, Erg11 mutations and tandem repeats in Erg11 gene promoter. The team has recently developed a novel and original human in vitro model of fungal granuloma evidencing mechanism leading to controlled or persistent Infection outcomes. The team is also involved in investigations on innovative carrier for the delivery of antifungal drugs as imprinted textiles nanocarrier and antibodies. In close collaboration with clinical teams and many international teams, EA 1155 maintains a large bank of clinical isolates. More recently, the One Health approach is developed to study environmental resistance in Aspergillus and yeasts.
